About Perrin Miller
Perrin Miller is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and served as a Naval Intelligence Officer for years and became a professional critical thinker (according to the Navy). He crafts speculative fiction with grit, heart, and a wicked sense of humor. His stories explore resilience and wonder, showing how ordinary people discover extraordinary strength when faced with impossible choices. He has been writing for nearly 20 years, though before 2025, his creative outlet was RPG games on Play-by-Post forums. His favorite games focused more on cooperative fiction and creative writing than traditional dice rolling, and those experiences shaped his approach to storytelling. Now he writes part-time while working as a civilian for the US Air Force in Tokyo, Japan, where he's lived since 2001. When he's not writing or working, you'll find him playing competitive volleyball or coaching high schoolers on the court.
* "Out of the Cold" - Released Jul 2025: His debut science fiction thriller, weaves mystery, romance, and adventure into a gripping exploration of survival—and what people are willing to sacrifice for it.
* "Death, Taxes, and Other Certainties" - Released Oct 2025: Book 1 of his humorous fantasy series, The Adventures of Dirk & Felix. The pair are modeled after two characters he created for a Pathfinder RPG campaign—complete with Dirk's crude banter and his cousin's terrible rhyming habit. More to come in this series.
An avid reader and lifelong player of sci-fi and fantasy RPGs, Perrin believes the best stories make you laugh, think, and occasionally question the sanity of their protagonists—preferably all at once. His writing philosophy is simple: if it's not fun to write, it won't be fun to read. This explains why his characters regularly make terrible decisions, his plots involve undead bureaucracy, and his half-wolf companion has absolutely no concept of appropriate behavior.
